Dress it up
What is the biggest and most important item of the wedding? The Dress...
Why not up-cycle a dress, maybe your mother's, sister's even grandmother's can be turned into something that is breath taking...It can be a beautiful thing.
Here are some beautiful examples, taking old vintage fabrics and dare I say it thrift store dresses and turn them into something you love. Instead of looking for the perfect dress make your own. There is something so elegant yet whimsical about these dresses.
Don't know how to sew? Start asking around your family so many women have these skills and would probably be happy to help.
Still can't find someone contact a seamstress on Etsy, there are so many talented artists on Etsy and I know that they are reasonable on there prices. I have even seen some up cycled wedding dresses on Etsy that are only $135!! That is amazing you would have one of kind for the same price as those discount mass produced dresses from
Davids bridal!! Having your dress made from fabrics that you choose or have already means the skies the limit!

If this can be done with the wedding dress you can do this with the whole wedding party. This would make the most fabulous wedding, have everyone where different up-cycled attire.
Here are some up-cycled bridesmaids dresses:

Weddings use to always look the same we have come to era where it is all about themes and being unique, you can create the wedding everyone will be talking about for years to come:)
Paper
There seems to be a lot of paper circulating when it comes to wedding you have,
-Save the dates
-Invitations
-Programs
-Menu's
-Thank you
And more....
So how can we save some trees and make some of the most interesting looking paper goods?
Easy..First you can find old books, Hymnals, old letters and this is what you can make......

Do you have an artist in the family, this is good way to get them involved hand written invitations are beautiful and extra personal, a wonderful way to showcase someones skills and when you pass out hundreds you never know who will see it and want some too:)

This is a great example of a handwritten/drawn invite, and this paper they used you can get a huge roll of that will last way beyond the wedding for $12 via lowes
Decorate
Now it comes down to the decor and what will tie the whole wedding together, the decorations.
You can go for many styles or themes such as,
- Cottage
-Shabby Chic
- Rustic Country
Or just whatever suits you:) This is your wedding it should truly represent you and when people see it they will be reminded of you!
Lighting is important it can set the mood, so you can create whatever mood you would like,
romantic soft lighting, bright fresh lighting, or go outside and have natural lighting:)
Try some of these ways to light your way.....
Mason jars and wine bottles make for some beautiful lighting, cheap and or free, there are so many ways to display them.

Need plates, grab some from the thrift store all colors and shapes, none of them match Great, The more shabby chic it looks! Also grab glasses and stemware, if you are more into everything matching this may not be the look for you.

Ways to Display..

Finding old furniture can be a beautiful way to display and to have gift tables, cake and even your food.
Paper roses are elegant touches ..

Signs
Point everyone in the right direction signs are a cute ways to show menus, parking and where the food line starts, very important:)

Easy to do chalkboard sign serving tray, make your own to display...
Signs are my thing I have been making wedding signs as well here are some of mine!

Those are few of my ideas for up-cycled weddings! You can turn your wedding into fun family event by getting everyone involved to help, I think this is they way it should be :) Two family's can become one and have a little fun while doing so!
