When deciding our shop's gift wrapping, I decided to use this upcycled
flat bow for shipping purposes. You can see how I made them here.
Holiday Accessories!
Have last year’s Christmas lights been sapped dry of their holiday
cheer? Don’t send them on their merry way to the landfill just yet. The
perfect size for hanging from your ears or neck, these tiny lights can
still shine with the addition of jewelry findings and some creative
flair. Here, we show you how you can create your own holiday-themed
accessories—for next to nothing—simply by seeing damaged goods in a
whole new light.

Wine bottles=Christmas display
The story of 3 wine bottles.....that just wanted to be pretty....
Ahhh...aren't they pretty now.....here's what I did....
I gathered 3 bottles...1 was a bit taller than the other 2...
Sprayed a coat of primer on them...
Let
them dry and got out the Epsom salt (found in the drug section area
near first aid..) what can I say...I like to think outside the box!
About $2 for the box!
Spray the bottles with some craft bond spray adhesive.
Roll the tacky bottle in some Epsom salt...
kind of looks like snow?? maybe??
I
placed the bottles on a silver platter that I had on hand...I also
spread some extra Epsom salt around the tray. I placed a few small
silver balls along with 3 votive. Inside the wine bottles I stuck in
some silver pics from Michael's. I was thinking of tall candles...that
would also work too...but I liked this look a but more.
I only spent money on the Epsom salt and the silver pics...not bad really
By
now you have seen the usual upcycled cork board...but who knew that you
could make furniture, birdhouses, trivets, wall base boards, baskets
and even a jacket from corks.
Here is the best collection of cork upcycle ideas I could find. Some are easy and some beyond even me!
Enjoy:
Oh so simple and a nice way to remember a special occasion!
Make cork stamps! Great for the crafty ones and kids.
Wine Glass Charms from Planet Green
Bring a wine bottle to a friend in one of these Wine Bottle Holders! How festive. From Etsy.
Cut
them up. Use these for the bottom of items like vases and lamps so that
they won't scratch your table, or put them behind photographs to level
them on the wall.
A cork basket...Bring it to a friend with a bottle of wine and a chunk of cheese
A
cork Tray...nice way to show off your cork collection that is
functional and can update an old tray. Tray the same with a tabletop!
They must have glued corks to a ball. Nice looking! A bowl of these would be nice, too.
This is cute for the holidays...why not add photos and make a year round photo
yes, I would also stop and stare at these recycled junk mail snowflakes if I had made them!

An Unconventional Christmas Tree
200 + book pages rolled and glued to a heavy cardboard cone then attached to a wooden dowel.
And a 3D star for the topper. If you missed the tutorial, click here.
Although the rolling and gluing were very time consuming, the hardest
part of this tree proved to be the base. My original idea of sticking
the dowel in a piece of styrofoam and covering it with burlap,
completely flopped. It was top heavy. So, I thought about it and
experimented with different things and finally decided on some scrap
wood I had laying around. And guess what? There was already a hole
which was the perfect size for the dowel!! How lucky is that? I spray
painted it Rust-Oleum Metallic, sanded it down a little and my tree is
now finished! What do you think, good use of an old book?
I decided to assemble a wreath for my backyard door with a touch of Eddie Ross style. So, I popped into the nearest thrift store and picked up 3 shirts: a tartan plaid, a bright red windowpane plaid and a dark red candy stripe. All very menswear, but still in merry holiday tones.
I started with a cardboard ring, the diameter of a luncheon plate. Next cut the shirts apart at the seams and then into strips.
Tied them onto the ring.
Trimmed the ends, fluffed it up, and
voila a wreath!
Ok that is it for now, I am off to have some coffee and to do some crafting!! I hope you' all enjoy and let me know what you think and if you have any questions!!
